Principals Message!

Welcome to Brewarrina Central School’ website. My name is Jennifer Green and I am the Executive Principal. As a Central school we educate children from Kindergarten to Year 12.

This year we celebrate delivering free Public Education continuously for 150 years. Many of our staff attended our school as children. Our Alumni live in town or have left to pursue careers in a full range of professions and trades. Our school is calm with a range of programs that support learning and whole of student wellbeing.

Strong culture equates to strong futures, and we have a range of programs that deliver culture and language for students. Clontarf and NASCA are external program providers with staff on site. We are strengthened by having local Elders and Traditional Knowledge holders working in our school to support education with local knowledge, ways of doing and being. These programs support our student’s sense of belonging and agency.

Our school has a Parents and Citizens Association which focuses on organising and managing events. Our local Aboriginal Education Consultative Group is open to community to be full members and staff from school are associate members. Walking Together and Working Together- the partnership agreement for the NSW AECG provides focus for our work. I encourage all our parents and people who care for our students to join and have their voice heard in this forum. Members of the AECG and P&C will be involved in the School Reference Group which we plan to re-establish in 2025, which work with the executive team and myself on our School Excellence Plan, working towards meeting the deliverables of the Connected Communities. With a genuine focus on growth and continuous improvement, we review what is enabling or acting as barriers for growth and achievement for our students.

If you would have a child currently attending or are looking to enrol your child at the school, I would welcome the opportunity of meeting with you and discussing your child’s educational needs and aspirations.

I grew up on a property outside of Roma in Queensland. I have always loved the bush and nature. I studied Science at University and became a Science teacher in New South Wales Public Schools: Dunedoo Central School, Coonamble High School, Boorowa Central School and Queanbeyan High School. I was honoured to be appointed Principal at Boorowa and then Queanbeyan High School before accepting the position at Brewarrina Central School. I have also worked in different roles in the Department of Education supporting Principals, relieving as Director and Principal Support Leadership.

I am a strong advocate of Public Education and access to education being a core right of all people. I look forward to serving the community of Brewarrina.
