Principals News!
Term 1 for 2016 at Brewarrina Central School is coming to a close. What a busy term it has been! We have one exciting week left at school until the holidays. This week is a busy week with plenty of student, parent and community member events happening. I would like to extend my congratulations to all the teachers and staff who made the Easter Hat Parade such a wonderful success. The hats were fabulous!
Just a reminder that in 2016 NAPLAN Students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 will sit for the National Assessment Program Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) test in May. The assessments are an opportunity for students to demonstrate what they have learned in class. The dates for NAPLAN this year are: 10-12 May, 2016. A note will be sent home early next term for parents/carers with more details about the NAPLAN test.
The Annual School Report for 2015 will be uploaded to our school's website at the end of term. This document highlights the school's achievements against the strategic directions in the School Plan 2015-2017, as well as our 2015 NAPLAN results. This year the Annual Report is in a new format and I encourage our community to read the report and provide feedback.
Throughout this term Quality teaching and learning has been our focus in classrooms and staff have been focussed on explicit instruction, student engagement, feedback for learning and the delivery of a differentiated delivery of curriculum. Exciting learning experiences are happening in our classrooms – thank you to the school staff for your commitment, enthusiasm and continued focus on student learning. We have much to be proud of. We have also had many events and initiatives led by students and staff this term including: Girlfit camp, SRC initiatives, the swimming carnival, choir, sport coaching, rugby league visits, Moorambilla, cultural activities, Big Picture Exhibitions parent/carer meetings, Questacon, excursion to
Narran Lakes, school plan conversations, regional events, Easter celebrations, Clean Up Australia Day and all the Clontarf activities – just to mention a few!
On top of that staff completed two afternoons of professional development which means that school will officially end Term 4 16 December 2016. Have a great week – one more week of Term 1 and then we start holidays!!
